Physics teaching resources

Spreadsheets of resources

Both searchable by topic, grade level, course, with suggestions about how to set them up, what to learn… (a warning may come up – this is new, I’m working on it with Google).

(Also known as Index of Simulations).

GIFT – Good Ideas For Teaching physics (toys, tricks, labs, standard labs)

Physics Map of the Terrain, as featured in ResearchED keynotes by Jim Heal and Meg Lee, including the National Conference in London!

Physics Family Trees

These family trees give students some historical and cultural context to the physics they are learning… some hinterland, if you will.

Atomic Family Tree
Electromagnetism Family Tree
Nuclear Family Tree
Oppenheimer The Movie Family Tree
Thermodynamics Family Tree

AP Physics courses: AP1, AP2, APC Mech, APC E&M

Here are my schedules of the year. I attribute the ability to finish with weeks to spare to the application of cogsci. The retrieval practice and SLOP (see more here) are instrumental in getting students to the point where it’s in their long-term memory, they feel little need to review, and they go into the exams quietly confident.
